Queen City Greyhounds established the “For Sugar’s Sake” fund in July 2010 to help raise money for the rehabilitation and care of sick and injured retired racing greyhounds. From time to time, QCG agrees to take on the responsibility of helping a racing greyhound, who would otherwise be euthanized, recover from their injuries and become available for adoption. These dogs, though ultimately making wonderful loving pets, cause QCG to incur additional costs that would not normally be associated with the rescue of a healthy greyhound dog.
Racing can be tough on the body of a greyhound, and unfortunately, not all injured racers receive the level of care they need to heal from an injury.
Other times, the very basic veterinary care received at the track doesn’t catch a pre-existing condition before the racer is retired and send up to Cincinnati.
That’s where Queen City Greyhounds comes in. When needed, QCG will pick up the expenses to nurse injured and ill greyhounds back to health. These surgeries can be expensive, and we need your help!
Please consider a donation to the For Sugar’s Sake Fund to help give these special greyhounds a chance at a healthy and happy retirement they would not otherwise receive.
