We are only able to bring up and adopt as many dogs as we have foster homes. Being a foster is truly one of the greatest gifts you can give to a greyhound, and it’s the backbone of our organization. Foster homes help the dogs make the transition from racer to pet. Foster “parents” provide temporary, loving care for greyhounds until they are on their way to new lives.
Imagine an adult dog that has never seen stairs or television or walked on tile or hardwood floors. Imagine a dog that has never seen another dog breed. a cat, or even a child. Greyhounds are that dog. Their racing lives are confined to cages and turn-out pens. Unlike other breeds, they don’t have the early one-to-one contact that dogs need. Greyhounds have lived their entire lives in a kennel situation and have no concept of what it’s like to live with a family in a house. That’s where you can help! Foster care givers can help ease the transition from the kennel to forever homes. Fosters teach dogs about houses, windows, furniture, mirrors, noises, animals (besides greyhounds), how to accept love, and how to play.

If you are interested in opening your heart and home to greyhound fostering, please fill out our Fostering Application Form and submit it as soon as possible. Make sure to fill out the form completely so that we can determine what type of greyhound would be most suitable to your lifestyle.
