Queen City Greyhounds is comprised entirely of volunteers, and as we expand the activities we do in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, it takes more volunteers willing to staff events, foster dogs, and help place greyhounds into adoptive families. Can you lend a hand?
Meet & Greets QCG can often be seen at local businesses around the Cincinnati Metro Area with adoptable dogs and “ambassador dogs” to introduce the community to the greyhound breed and promote adoptions. These events normally fall on weekends and require a 1 to 3 hour time commitment.
Community Events From festivals to picnics, QCG is often invited to attend special events (as long as we promise to bring a few dogs along.) These events vary in length and location, but we are always in need for volunteers to ensure all needed time slots are filled.
Greyhound Hauls It’s all-hands-on-deck when we bring another group of retired racers up from the track to the Cincinnati area. A “haul” consists of a few individuals transporting the dogs to Cincinnati, and upon arrival, all volunteers help welcome, walk, bathe and acclimate the dogs to their first day of retired life.
Foster Families Fostering is the life-blood of our organization. We are always (always, always, always) in need of more volunteers willing to foster a greyhound until they are ready for adoption. As a foster, you help teach a loving greyhound how to be a family pet, and prepare them for the transition into their “forever home.”
It’s easy when you enroll in Kroger Community Rewards®! To get started, register now or sign up with your existing Plus Card and select QCG as the local organization you wish to support.
Once you’re enrolled, you’ll earn rewards every time you shop and use your Plus Card! Kroger food stores will donate a portion of all money spent back to QCG. This is a great way to give back to QCG without having to spend any extra money out of your own pocket. Just remember to re-enroll every year in order to keep giving back!
